Why a lemon?
Just Another Lemon is a small AI studio in Helsinki. We started it because we wanted to make things that are fun and useful, ideally both at once.
In June 2026 two mildly sour guys in their forties, Ilpo Ryynänen and Jyri Vuorinen, got on a call and agreed on a plan: build only what we are genuinely excited about, show a working demo before writing a spec, and if an idea doesn't fly, throw it out and try the next one. When something does fly, we grind.
Naming the company took longer than the plan. Polar Parrot sounded like a snowmobile dealer. Mixture of Amateurs was a little too honest. Then someone looked up what lemon means in English slang: a product that turns out to be a disappointment. For a company whose whole method is to try lots of ideas and kill the bad ones quickly, that sounded less like an insult and more like a job description. We took the name and bought the domain before the call ended.
Just Another Lemon Oy was registered in August 2026. Today it is two humans and a small crew of AI agents with names like Seppo and Hilda. Our unofficial motto: when life gives you lemons, you make apps.
